Cocktail - Kentucky Mule - Walk-On’s Bistreux & Bar

I love Moscow Mules. Typically, mules are made with vodka, but Walk-On’s Bistreux & Bar makes theirs a Kentucky Mule by substituting the vodka with Buffalo Trace Bourbon.

The cocktail’s ingredients are Buffalo Trace bourbon, Finest Call Lime Sour, simple syrup, Q Ginger Beer, and fresh lime.

This was one of the best mules I’ve ever had. It was light and fresh, but with the woodiness and oakiness of the bourbon.

I will definitely get this one again!

Cocktail - Creamsicle - Sugarlands Distilling Co Cocktail Bar

Last weekend, my husband (John) and I spent a night in Pigeon Forge, TN for Valentine’s Day. On Saturday, Sugarlands Distilling Company was releasing four exclusive, limited-run flavors (more on those later). We got there earlier and paid our five bucks to try the moonshines (again).

In the distillery, they have the Cocktail Bar. I ordered the Creamsicle. Man, it was gooooood. It uses their Electric Orange Appalachian Sippin’ Cream, which tastes like those Flintstone’s Push Pops from when I was a kid. On top of that cream liqueur, it has half & half, orange soda and is topped with whipped cream.

I’d had one other cocktail there, which I loved, but this one is incredible. It was a very popular offering, too!

It was refreshing, even on a cold day. Here’s how you can make it yourself:

Creamsicle:
1.5 oz Electric Orange Appalachian Sippin’ Cream
1.75 oz half & half
1.75 oz orange soda
Whipped cream

Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Apple

This one had intrigued me every time I saw it at a liquor store. I decided to get airplane bottle of it. I have a regret. I regret not getting a full bottle. This was amazing. It was the crispness you get from apples and the smoothness of Jack Daniel’s whiskey. It was so smooth!

I think it would be delicious in some lemon lime soda!

A Beginning

I’ve never been one for whiskey. I’m willing to admit it. I think it’s because I never cared enough. Recently, I had COVID-19, and lost my sense of taste and smell. Studies are showing that some people that had the illness are having a condition known as anosmia, a condition where tastes and sense of smell is messed up. Ladies and gentlemen...I have anosmia.

I absolutely love Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Since COVID, I can’t stand the taste of most of them...I see you Reese’s hearts.

Also since COVID, I LOVE the taste of whiskey. Hence, this journey had started.

I want to share my reactions. I want to share my thoughts. And I want to share my ignorance, haha.

Welcome to the Spirited Journey.
